ACL & Knee Rehab

Knee injuries and ACL surgery require structured, progressive rehab and objective testing to safely return to sport and activity. Simply reducing pain is not enough; restoring strength symmetry and control is essential.

Common Symptoms

Symptoms vary between person, at different points in the healing process and between types of injury. A few common symptoms we see are:

  • Instability or giving way are often cardinal signs of injury following an ACL or ligament tear

  • Meniscus injuries often are provoked by twisting under load

  • Pain with stairs or running, particularly with Patellofemoral Pain Syndrome (PFPS)

Why These Injuries Happen

The causes of these injuries are varied and often overlap. Your PT can help find the source and nature of your knee pain and guide recovery.

How We Treat It at Sparks PT

Progressive loading, movement retraining, and dynamometry strength testing guide safe return to activity and sport. Blood Flow Restriction (BFR) training is often an important part of post-surgical rehab as well as other injuries as well.

What Recovery Typically Looks Like

Structured phases focused on restoring strength, control, and functional movement patterns. Particularly with ACL rehab there will be clear and evidence-backed objective values which will clearly lay out when you are safe to return to different levels of activity.
